What happens during an ADHD assessment?
Your comprehensive assessment takes place over a 2-hour appointment. Your clinician will explore your current difficulties, developmental history, education, work, relationships and daily functioning, alongside the questionnaires you completed beforehand. Your experiences are considered against recognised diagnostic criteria, and other explanations for your difficulties are considered too.
How long are the assessment and follow-up appointments?
Your assessment takes place over a comprehensive 2-hour appointment. Once your assessment has been reviewed and your report finalised, you'll have a 15-minute follow-up appointment to discuss your diagnostic outcome, receive your report and ask any questions about the next steps.
Who carries out the assessment?
Assessments are delivered by GPhC-registered pharmacists with specialist adult ADHD experience, working within their professional scope. Their biographies are available on our Team page. Independent coaching partners provide optional non-clinical post-assessment support separately from the diagnostic assessment.
Does an assessment guarantee an ADHD diagnosis?
No. Booking an assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis of ADHD. An assessment is about finding the right explanation for your experiences. Whatever the outcome, the clinical findings will be explained clearly and a comprehensive written report will be provided.
When will I receive my report?
Your comprehensive written report is normally finalised within 7 days of your assessment and shared with you during your 15-minute follow-up appointment. It sets out the clinical findings, the diagnostic outcome and appropriate recommendations and next steps.
Where is the service available?
Assessments are carried out remotely and are currently available to adults in England and Northern Ireland. You will need to be in England or Northern Ireland at the time of your appointment.
What happens after the assessment?
Your report will include appropriate recommendations and next steps, whatever your diagnostic outcome. After completing the assessment pathway, you can choose two complimentary post-assessment coaching sessions with an independent coaching partner. The sessions can help you understand your outcome, reflect on what you have learned about yourself and consider practical next steps. They are supportive and non-clinical, and are separate from ADHD assessment, diagnosis, medical treatment and psychological therapy.
Are the two coaching sessions free?
Yes. Two optional post-assessment coaching sessions are included at no extra charge after you complete the assessment pathway, regardless of your diagnostic outcome. Where options are available, you choose your preferred independent coaching partner and book directly using the route provided. Coaching is supportive and non-clinical; it is not ADHD assessment, diagnosis, medical treatment or psychological therapy. Your report is not routinely shared with the coach, although you may choose to share it yourself.
Who is the assessment for?
The service is for adults aged 18 and over in England and Northern Ireland seeking a specialist assessment for possible ADHD. Our free initial screening helps you explore whether the symptoms you're experiencing may be consistent with ADHD and whether you may benefit from a full assessment.
What kinds of difficulties do people describe?
People often describe long-standing difficulties with attention, organisation, restlessness, impulsivity or emotional regulation that affect more than one area of life and began in childhood. Everyday experiences such as occasional procrastination are common and do not, on their own, indicate ADHD.
What questionnaires will I complete?
Before booking, you complete the free ASRS v1.1 screening. Once booked, you complete the WURS (retrospective childhood ADHD symptoms), the GAD-7 (anxiety symptoms, which helps your clinician consider other explanations) and the PHQ-9 (depressive symptoms and risk). Someone who knows you well — ideally a person who knew you in childhood, where that is possible — completes the BAARS-IV Other-Report informant questionnaire. During your appointment, your clinician then explores a structured diagnostic interview for adult ADHD (the DIVA-5) with you, rather than asking you to complete it as another lengthy questionnaire beforehand. Questionnaires support the clinical assessment; they do not determine the outcome on their own, and no single questionnaire diagnoses ADHD. They are completed securely within our clinical systems rather than on this website.
How does a remote assessment work?
Your appointment takes place by secure video call. You will need a private space, a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone.
How much does the assessment cost?
The £650 fee includes pre-assessment questionnaires, a comprehensive 2-hour clinical assessment, a written report, a 15-minute follow-up appointment and two optional free post-assessment coaching sessions. The coaching sessions are available after you complete the assessment pathway, regardless of your diagnostic outcome.
How do I pay?
Payment is taken securely online at the time of booking.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Yes. The applicable cancellation and rescheduling terms, including any notice period, are shown clearly before you pay.
Will you write to my GP?
Your assessment report is provided to you. You can share it with your GP or another healthcare professional if you wish.
Do you provide medication or prescribing?
No. This is an assessment and diagnosis service for adults; prescribing and medication treatment are not part of it. Your report will set out appropriate recommendations and next steps.
How is my information handled?
Clinical questionnaires and health information are handled securely within appropriate clinical systems and are not unnecessarily stored on this public website.
