Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before booking an assessment. By booking and paying for an assessment, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1.About Our Service
Pernovia Health provides private, remote ADHD assessment and diagnostic services for adults.
Our service is designed to provide a comprehensive clinical assessment to determine whether an individual meets the diagnostic criteria for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Our service is currently available to eligible adults located in England and Northern Ireland.
Assessments are delivered remotely by appropriately qualified healthcare professionals.
Pernovia Health provides an assessment and diagnostic service only. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, our service does not include ongoing medical treatment, medication initiation, prescribing, medication titration or long-term clinical management.
2.Eligibility
You must be aged 18 years or over at the time of your assessment.
You must ordinarily be located in England or Northern Ireland and be physically located within a jurisdiction in which our clinicians are able to provide the service at the time of your consultation.
You are responsible for providing accurate information about your age, identity, location, medical history and other relevant circumstances.
Our service may not be appropriate for everyone. We reserve the right to decline or discontinue an assessment where we reasonably consider that:
- the service is not clinically appropriate for your needs;
- your presentation requires a different or more urgent form of assessment;
- significant clinical complexity requires assessment by another specialist service;
- there are concerns about your immediate safety or wellbeing;
- the information required to conduct a safe and reliable assessment is unavailable;
- there are concerns regarding the accuracy, authenticity or completeness of information provided; or
- providing the assessment would fall outside the clinician's professional competence, scope of practice or applicable regulatory requirements.
Where reasonably possible, we will explain why the service is unsuitable and may recommend that you contact your GP, NHS services or another appropriate healthcare provider.
3.What the ADHD Assessment Includes
The precise assessment pathway may vary according to individual clinical circumstances.
A typical assessment may include:
- completion of validated ADHD screening and assessment questionnaires;
- review of your developmental, educational, occupational, social and medical history;
- consideration of ADHD symptoms during childhood and adulthood;
- consideration of the impact of symptoms across different areas of your life;
- a comprehensive 2-hour clinical assessment with an ADHD clinician;
- consideration of alternative or co-existing explanations for your symptoms;
- collateral or informant information where clinically appropriate and available;
- review of relevant supporting documentation where provided;
- application of recognised diagnostic criteria;
- clinical formulation and diagnostic decision;
- a 15-minute follow-up appointment to discuss the diagnostic outcome, receive your completed report and ask questions about the next steps; and
- a written clinical assessment report, normally finalised before the follow-up appointment.
Additional information or a further consultation may occasionally be required before a diagnostic conclusion can safely be reached.
4.What the Service Does Not Include
Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, the assessment fee does not include:
- prescribing ADHD medication;
- medication initiation or titration;
- repeat prescriptions;
- ongoing medication monitoring;
- physical examinations or investigations;
- blood tests, ECGs or other diagnostic investigations;
- emergency or crisis mental health care;
- ongoing psychiatric care;
- psychotherapy or counselling;
- treatment of other mental or physical health conditions;
- completion of medico-legal reports;
- occupational health assessments;
- educational assessments;
- assessments specifically undertaken for litigation, benefits, immigration or other legal proceedings; or
- ongoing follow-up care after completion of the assessment.
Where ADHD is diagnosed, we may provide information about appropriate next steps and treatment options. This does not mean that Pernovia Health is responsible for providing those treatments.
The two complimentary post-assessment coaching sessions are optional post-assessment support available after completing the assessment pathway, regardless of diagnostic outcome. Coaching is supportive and non-clinical and does not form part of the diagnostic decision, medical treatment or psychological therapy.
5.Independent Post-Assessment Coaching
The complimentary coaching sessions are delivered by independent coaching partners, including Ruth Bidmead. Our coaching partners are independent contractors and are not employees or clinicians of Pernovia Health.
Where options are available, you choose whether to use the sessions and which independent partner you prefer. After completing the assessment pathway, you book directly into that coach's availability using the booking route provided. The coach's own availability, booking terms and privacy information apply.
Please give at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a coaching session. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice, or non-attendance, will normally count as one of the two complimentary sessions. We may exercise discretion in exceptional circumstances. The cancellation terms in section 12 apply to the assessment service and are separate from coaching sessions.
Independent coaches do not provide ADHD assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, medication advice, clinical monitoring or other clinical care on behalf of Pernovia Health. They are responsible for their own coaching service, booking system, records, confidentiality, safeguarding and data protection.
Pernovia Health does not routinely provide your report or clinical record to a coach. You may choose to share your assessment or report directly. Only the minimum information reasonably necessary may be used or shared to administer or verify the two funded sessions, as explained in our Privacy Notice.
If a safeguarding concern arises during coaching, the coach follows their own safeguarding and professional procedures and may contact appropriate professionals or services where lawful and necessary. Pernovia Health may be contacted where appropriate, but is not an emergency or crisis service.
After the two Pernovia-funded sessions, you may choose to continue with the coach privately. Any ongoing coaching, fees and arrangements are directly between you and the independent coach and fall outside Pernovia Health's service and responsibility.
6.An Assessment Does Not Guarantee a Diagnosis
Booking and completing an ADHD assessment does not guarantee that you will receive a diagnosis of ADHD.
Payment is for the professional time, clinical assessment, interpretation of information and preparation of the assessment outcome and report. It is not payment for a particular diagnosis.
A clinician may conclude that:
- you meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD;
- you do not meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD;
- another condition or explanation should be considered;
- further information is required before a conclusion can be reached; or
- assessment by another healthcare professional or service is recommended.
A full assessment fee remains payable regardless of the diagnostic outcome.
7.Clinical Independence
All diagnostic decisions are made by the assessing clinician using their professional judgement and the information available to them.
Neither Pernovia Health nor any patient may require a clinician to make a particular diagnosis.
Our clinicians retain the right to request additional information, defer a diagnostic decision, recommend further assessment or decline to make a diagnosis where they believe there is insufficient evidence to reach a clinically reliable conclusion.
8.Questionnaires and Pre-Assessment Information
You may be asked to complete questionnaires and provide information before your appointment. These form part of the clinical assessment and should be completed accurately and honestly.
You may also be asked to provide supporting information such as school reports, previous clinical correspondence, previous assessment reports, medical information or other relevant records.
Failure to complete required pre-assessment information may mean that your assessment cannot proceed or that a diagnostic conclusion cannot be reached at the scheduled appointment. We may therefore need to postpone or reschedule an assessment where essential information has not been provided.
9.Informant Information
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition and assessment normally includes consideration of symptoms and functioning across the person's lifetime.
Where appropriate, we may ask you to nominate someone who knows you well, or who knew you during childhood, to provide collateral information. This might include a parent, sibling, partner, relative or another suitable person.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have permission to provide an informant's contact details to us.
Informant information is considered alongside all other available clinical evidence. An informant's responses do not independently determine whether ADHD is diagnosed.
We recognise that some adults cannot obtain childhood or informant information. The absence of an informant does not automatically prevent an assessment or diagnosis. The assessing clinician will determine whether sufficient evidence is available to reach a reliable clinical conclusion.
10.Accuracy of Information
You must provide complete and accurate information to the best of your knowledge. This includes relevant information about your symptoms, developmental history, physical and mental health, medication, substance use, previous diagnoses, previous ADHD assessments and other relevant healthcare history.
Withholding or deliberately misrepresenting clinically important information may affect the reliability of the assessment. Where significant discrepancies or concerns arise, the clinician may defer or discontinue the assessment.
11.Fees and Payment
The price of your assessment will be clearly displayed before you book. The fee applicable to your booking is the price displayed and agreed at the time payment is made.
Unless otherwise stated, payment must be made in full before the assessment appointment is confirmed.
Any additional service that falls outside the agreed assessment package may attract an additional fee. Where this applies, the fee will be explained before the additional service is provided.
12.Cancellation and Rescheduling
We understand that circumstances can change. You may cancel or request to reschedule your appointment by contacting us using the details provided in your booking confirmation.
- Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled appointment are eligible for a full refund.
- Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment are eligible for a refund less a £50 administration fee.
- You may request to reschedule your appointment up to twice without charge, provided each request is made more than 48 hours before the scheduled appointment. More than two rescheduling requests will attract a £50 administration fee.
- Failure to attend without notice will attract a £50 administration fee. The appointment may be rescheduled to another available appointment.
Nothing in this section affects any statutory rights you may have as a consumer.
Where applicable, any statutory cancellation rights relating to services purchased online will be dealt with in accordance with applicable consumer law. If you expressly request that the service begins during a statutory cancellation period, your cancellation rights may be affected once the service has begun or been completed.
13.Cancellation by Pernovia Health
Occasionally, we may need to cancel or reschedule an appointment because of clinician illness, technical problems or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where this occurs, we will offer you an alternative appointment.
If we are unable to provide a suitable alternative, or you do not wish to accept the alternative offered, we will refund the amount paid for the affected service.
We are not responsible for indirect costs incurred as a result of an appointment being cancelled, such as loss of earnings or childcare costs, except where required by law.
14.Late Attendance
Please join your remote appointment at the scheduled time.
If you are late, the clinician will make reasonable efforts to proceed where sufficient time remains to complete the assessment safely and appropriately.
Appointments cannot normally be extended beyond their scheduled finishing time because this may affect other patients.
If you are significantly late and there is insufficient time to conduct a clinically appropriate assessment, the appointment may need to be rescheduled. Depending on the circumstances, the applicable £50 administration fee may apply.
15.Failure to Attend
If you do not attend your scheduled appointment and have not contacted us beforehand, the appointment will normally be treated as a no-show.
A £50 administration fee will apply. The appointment may be rescheduled to another available appointment.
16.Remote Consultations
Assessments are conducted remotely using an approved video consultation platform.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have a suitable device, stable internet connection, functioning audio and video, a private environment in which you can speak freely and sufficient time to complete the consultation without interruption.
For clinical, privacy and safety reasons, we may decline to conduct an assessment where you are driving, operating machinery, in a public environment where confidentiality cannot reasonably be maintained, or otherwise unable to participate safely.
If significant technical problems prevent the assessment from taking place, we will make reasonable efforts to rearrange the consultation.
17.Clinical Reports
Following completion of the assessment and once sufficient information is available, you will receive a written clinical report.
We aim to provide completed reports normally within 7 calendar days of the assessment, although complex cases or situations requiring additional information may take longer.
The report reflects the clinical information available at the time of assessment.
You should review your report when you receive it and notify us promptly if you identify factual errors.
We will correct genuine factual inaccuracies where appropriate. However, requests to alter professional opinions, clinical findings or diagnostic conclusions will not be accepted solely because the patient disagrees with them.
Your assessment report is provided directly to you. You may share it with your GP or another healthcare professional if you wish.
18.Acceptance of Our Diagnosis or Report by Third Parties
Pernovia Health cannot guarantee that another healthcare provider, NHS service, GP practice, employer, educational institution, insurer, prescribing service or other third party will accept our assessment, diagnosis or recommendations.
Decisions made by third parties are outside our control.
In particular, an ADHD diagnosis does not guarantee that another provider will prescribe ADHD medication or accept responsibility for treatment.
19.Limitations of the Service
An ADHD assessment is based on clinical interviews, validated assessment tools, developmental information, available records, collateral information where appropriate and the professional judgement of the clinician.
No clinical assessment can eliminate all uncertainty.
Our conclusions are based on the information reasonably available at the time of assessment.
The service should not be used as a substitute for emergency medical care, comprehensive psychiatric care where this is required, or assessment and treatment of unrelated medical or mental health conditions.
20.Emergencies and Crisis Situations
Pernovia Health is not an emergency or crisis service.
Our website, questionnaires, email addresses and appointment system are not continuously monitored for urgent clinical concerns.
If you believe that you or another person is in immediate danger, experiencing a medical emergency, or requires urgent mental health support, you should contact the appropriate emergency or urgent healthcare service.
You should not wait for a response from Pernovia Health in an emergency.
21.Inappropriate or Unsafe Referrals
If information obtained before or during the assessment indicates that our service is not appropriate or that another clinical need requires priority, we may pause or discontinue the assessment.
This may include circumstances involving significant acute mental illness, immediate risk to self or others, safeguarding concerns, severe substance-related difficulties or another condition requiring urgent assessment.
Our clinician may recommend contact with your GP, emergency services, NHS mental health services or another appropriate healthcare provider.
Where we have serious concerns regarding immediate safety or safeguarding, information may be shared with appropriate services without consent where this is lawful and necessary.
22.Respectful Behaviour
We are committed to treating patients with dignity, courtesy and respect and expect the same towards our clinicians, staff and contractors.
We will not tolerate threatening, abusive, discriminatory, sexually inappropriate or seriously disruptive behaviour.
We reserve the right to end a consultation or discontinue provision of services where behaviour creates a risk to staff, clinicians, patients or the integrity of the clinical service.
23.Confidentiality and Personal Information
We take the confidentiality and security of personal and health information seriously.
Information about how we collect, use, store and share personal data is contained in our Privacy Notice, which should be read alongside these Terms & Conditions.
Where appropriate, we may share information with other healthcare professionals or services with your consent.
There are limited circumstances in which information may need to be disclosed without consent, including where required by law or where disclosure is necessary in connection with serious safeguarding or safety concerns.
24.Recording Consultations
A consultation will not be recorded without informing you.
Where recording or transcription technology is used to assist clinical documentation, you will be informed about its use and any necessary consent will be obtained.
Further information about how associated personal data is handled will be provided in our Privacy Notice.
25.Complaints
We aim to provide a professional, respectful and clinically robust service.
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service, we encourage you to raise the matter with us.
Our complaints process, including how to submit a complaint and the timescales for responding, is set out in our Complaints Policy available on our website.
Making a complaint will not adversely affect the care or service you receive from us.
26.Website Information
Information provided on the Pernovia Health website is intended for general information and should not be treated as individual medical advice.
Website content does not create a clinician-patient relationship and should not be used to diagnose or treat a medical or mental health condition.
27.Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the content of our website and materials produced by Pernovia Health are owned by or licensed to Distinct Mind And Co Ltd and may not be reproduced commercially without permission.
Patients may retain and share their own clinical assessment reports for legitimate personal and healthcare purposes.
28.Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions periodically to reflect changes to our services, clinical processes, technology, regulatory requirements or applicable law.
The Terms applicable to your booked assessment will ordinarily be those in force when you make your booking, unless a change is required by law or is necessary for patient safety.
The latest version will be available on our website.
29.Governing Law
For patients receiving services in England, these Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply.
For patients receiving services in Northern Ireland, applicable Northern Ireland law and mandatory consumer protections will apply where required.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes or restricts any statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
30.Contact Us
If you have questions about these Terms & Conditions or our service, please contact us using the contact details provided in your booking confirmation or on this website.
