Private Adult ADHD Assessments in Northern Ireland

Pernovia Health provides private, online adult ADHD assessments for eligible adults aged 18 and over throughout Northern Ireland. Your appointment takes place by secure video call, so there is no clinic to travel to and no waiting room.

Assessments are carried out by experienced clinicians who work exclusively in adult ADHD assessment and diagnosis. The pathway includes a comprehensive 2-hour assessment and, once your report is finalised, a 15-minute follow-up to discuss your diagnostic outcome, receive your report and ask questions about the next steps.

Who the assessment is for

The service is for adults aged 18 and over who are in Northern Ireland (or England) at the time of their appointment and who are considering whether ADHD may explain long-standing difficulties with attention, organisation, restlessness, impulsivity or emotional regulation.

People often come to us after recognising patterns that have been present since childhood, or after a family member, colleague or clinician has raised the possibility. Our free initial screening helps you explore whether the symptoms you're experiencing may be consistent with ADHD and whether you may benefit from a full assessment.

Occasional distraction or procrastination is extremely common and does not, on its own, indicate ADHD — which is exactly why a careful clinical assessment matters.

Available across Northern Ireland

Because assessments are delivered online, the same pathway is available wherever you live — from Belfast, Derry/Londonderry and Lisburn to Newry, Bangor and Armagh — as long as you can join from a private, confidential space with a reliable internet connection.

We do not operate physical premises in Northern Ireland. Every appointment is delivered remotely by secure video call.

The pathway

How your assessment works

One continuous pathway, designed so you always know what happens next.

  1. 1. Free initial ADHD screening

You begin with a short, free online ADHD screening. It is not a diagnosis — it helps you explore whether the symptoms you're experiencing may be consistent with ADHD and whether a full assessment could help.

  2. 2. Booking and questionnaires

Once you book, you'll complete some questionnaires securely before your appointment to help us understand your current symptoms, childhood experiences and how these affect your day-to-day life. We'll also ask for information from someone who knows you well where appropriate.

  3. 3. Your clinical assessment

Your clinician explores this information with you in detail during a comprehensive 2-hour remote assessment, looking at your history, daily functioning and current difficulties.

  4. 4. Follow-up and written report

Once your assessment has been reviewed and your report finalised, you'll have a 15-minute follow-up appointment to discuss your diagnostic outcome, receive your report and ask any questions about the next steps.

Free initial screening

Not sure whether an ADHD assessment is right for you?

Take our free short ADHD screening questionnaire. The ASRS v1.1 is a brief screening questionnaire that can help identify whether your experiences may be consistent with ADHD. It is not a diagnostic test and the result does not confirm or exclude ADHD.

Anonymous and free. Your answers are not stored, and your screening result alone does not determine whether you have ADHD.

Before your appointment

What you'll complete beforehand

Before your appointment, you'll complete some questionnaires to help us understand your current symptoms, childhood experiences and how these affect your day-to-day life. We'll also ask for information from someone who knows you well where appropriate. Your clinician will then explore this information with you in detail during your assessment.

Questionnaires support the clinical assessment — they don't replace it, and scores alone never determine a diagnosis. If you'd like to know more about the specific validated tools we use, see our frequently asked questions.

A diagnosis is never guaranteed

An assessment is about finding the right explanation, not simply receiving a diagnosis. Whatever the outcome, the clinical findings will be explained clearly and a comprehensive written report will be provided.

What happens afterwards

Your report is provided to you, with appropriate recommendations and next steps. You can choose to share it with your GP or another healthcare professional.

Following your assessment, you can choose two complimentary post-assessment coaching sessions with an independent coaching partner, regardless of your diagnostic outcome. They can help you understand your outcome, reflect on what you have learned about yourself and consider practical next steps. Coaching is supportive and non-clinical. It is separate from assessment, diagnosis, medical treatment and psychological therapy. Prescribing, medication initiation and ongoing treatment are not part of this service.

You can read our independent coaches' profiles and, after completing the pathway, book directly with your preferred available partner using the route provided. Learn more about post-assessment coaching.

FAQs

Northern Ireland: common questions

Is the ADHD assessment in Northern Ireland carried out online?
Yes. Every part of the pathway is remote. Your screening and questionnaires are completed online, and your assessment takes place with your clinician by secure video call while you are in Northern Ireland. We do not hold face-to-face clinics.
Do I need a GP referral to book?
Our pathway begins with a free initial ADHD screening rather than a referral, so you can arrange an assessment yourself. Our free initial screening helps you explore whether the symptoms you're experiencing may be consistent with ADHD and whether you may benefit from a full assessment.
How much does a private ADHD assessment in Northern Ireland cost?
The comprehensive adult ADHD assessment is £650. There is one assessment package and one clearly explained fee, which covers the 2-hour clinical assessment, the 15-minute follow-up appointment and your written report.
What happens if ADHD is not diagnosed?
Booking an assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis of ADHD. If ADHD is not identified, your clinician will explain the clinical findings and reasoning, and you will still receive a comprehensive written report with appropriate recommendations and next steps.
Is medication or prescribing included?
No. This is an assessment and diagnostic service only. Prescribing, medication initiation, titration and ongoing treatment are not part of this service.
How quickly will I receive my report?
Your comprehensive written report is normally finalised within 7 days of your assessment and shared during your 15-minute follow-up appointment, once sufficient information is available.
Can I share my report with my GP?
Your assessment report is provided to you. You can share it with your GP or another healthcare professional if you wish, and you remain in control of who sees it.
